About Dae Bak

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Philadelphia, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Pennsylvania run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 am–10 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (267) 457-5876. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, daebakphiladelphia.com.
Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 761 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded korean restaurants in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I’ve been coming here with friends for a while, and it’s become one of our favorite places to eat. The prices are budget-friendly, the atmosphere is comfortable, and it’s a great spot for groups. One of my favorite things here is the kimchi. I genuinely love the way they make it, and I couldn’t stop going back for more. They kept refilling the small kimchi bowl without any issue, which I really appreciated. It’s one of those little details that made the experience even better. The staff has always been kind, and every visit has been enjoyable. I’ll definitely keep coming back.

Such a great place! Services was amazing, we had a table of 14 which he managed while serving the rest of the restaurant. Very well organised and they even comped us a seafood and spicy scallion pancake! This is one of our go to places in Chinatown when we are craving Korean food. Their banchan is reliable and so is their soondubu

If you’re in Chinatown and craving authentic Korean food, Dae Bak Korean Restaurant is a hidden gem you don’t want to miss. Tucked away on the second floor, it already feels like one of those “you have to know about it” spots and it delivers. I tried the bulgogi bibimbap and it was everything: perfectly seasoned, super flavorful, and served hot with that comforting, home-style feel. But let’s talk about the banchan… SO good. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. Honestly, those little side dishes alone elevate the entire experience. The vibe is cozy and authentic, and the food speaks for itself. If you’re into real Korean flavors (not watered down), this place hits. Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to.
